New Zealand electronics engineer. He designed the first prototypes of the acoustic tags DTAG (www.soundtags.org) in the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Massachusetts, and now continues his work in the Sea Mammal Research Unit at the University of St. Andrews. There he combines the design of acoustic instrumentation for monitoring and movement of terrestrial and marine fauna, with research in ecology and animal behavior. Currently he is also working on the design of autonomous recorders Soundtrap with a New Zealand company (http://www.oceaninstruments.co.nz/).
